Professor of queer studies, now with State University of New York, Buffalo. Founder, Harvey Milk Institute, the largest queer studies institute in the world. Writer, notably 'Gay American History' (1976) and 'The Invention of Heterosexuality' (1990, 2007). One of the founders of the Gay Academic Union.
