Description
Dancer and choreographer, notably of ballet and modern dance. Danced professionally for 14 years before beginning his own production company, Adventures in Motion Pictures, in 1987, which became Britain's most celebrated dance company. Has won a Laurence Olivier Award (Mary Poppins, 2005), a Drama Desk Award (Swan Lake - 1999, Edward Scissorhands - 2007), and two Tony Awards (Swan Lake, 1999). His current production company, launched in 2002, is called New Adventures. Earned particular fame when his version of Swan Lake had a male swan fall in love with another male swan. Awarded a Knighthood (2015).
