Description

Acclaimed modern dance choreographer and founder of the Paul Taylor Dance Company (1964). Notable for his shocking and eclectic new style of movement and dance. Many of his dances have been performed by major ballet and modern companies around the world, including Aureole (1962), Esplanade (1975), Airs (1978), and Arden Court (1981). Elected one of ten honorary American members of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters (1989), received the National Medal of Arts (1993), a Kennedy Center Honor (1992), and an Emmy Award (1992). Author of his autobiography 'Private Domain' (1987).
