Canadian feminist and former mayor of the city of Ottawa. She was the first female mayor of a major city in Canada. Known as a staunch nationalist and patriot. Partner was Margaret Grier, though this was not known widespread until after her death. Appointed Officer of the Order of Canada in 1967.
