Description
Pseudonym of Intersex activist Bo Laurent who founded the Intersex Society of North America (1993). Member of the Advisory Committee of Accord Alliance, established in March 2008 to promote comprehensive and integrated approaches to care that enhance the health and well-being of people and families affected by disorders of sex development. Born as Bonnie Sullivan with ambiguous genitalia. Legally changed her name to Bo Laurent. Produced 'Hermaphrodites Speak!', the first documentary in which intersex people speak openly about their personal experience (1997). Advocates a more complex view of sexuality, and the right of the intersex child to determine their ultimate sex when capable of doing so.
