Description
Foremost Australian painter, in the surrealist style on a large scale. Many of his paintings have homoerotic undertones and male nudes. Author of several art books on the subject. Served on the Board of the National Gallery of Australia. Partner was Frank O'Keefe, and together they founded the O'Keefe Foundation to acquire works of art for the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
