Description
Labour Party Member of Parliament since 1997. Former Shadow secretary of state for education, and Shadow Minister of Justice, among other posts. Former general secretary of the Fabian Society; first openly gay president of the National Union of Students. Has consistently campaigned against discrimination both inside and outside the House of Commons. First Member of Parliament to be publicly LGBTQ before being elected.
