Theatre, film, and television actor, dancer, and choreographer. Winner of ten Tony Awards for his theatre roles, being the only person to win Tony Awards in the same categories (Best Choreography and Best Direction of a Musical) in consecutive years (1990 and 1991), and the first to win in four categories. Member, American Theatre Hall of Fame. Recipient, National Medal of Arts (2003). Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement (2015). Author of his autobiography 'Footnote' (2014).
