Description
Singer, considered one of the most important women in rock history, with ballads which combined elements of folk, soul and gospel. Notable albums include 'Eli and the Thirteenth Confession' (1968) and 'New York Tendaberry' (1969). Wrote songs for numerous successful singers, including Barbra Streisand, The 5th Dimension, Peter, Paul and Mary, and others. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (2012).
