King of Macedonia.  Notable for his military exploits as conqueror of Greece, Egypt, and Persia which created one of the largest empires of the ancient world.  Undefeated in battle.  Many cities were subsequently named in his honour.  Had a close relationship with Hephaestion, his lover, who was poisoned.  This devastated Alexander, and he also died shortly after.  Married twice and had children, suggesting Alexander was bisexual, which was not uncommon at that time.
