Description
Broadway actor/writer. Notable as a writer and lead in the play and film version of 'Torch Song Trilogy', for which he won a Tony Award as Best Actor in a Play. Other theatre productions include 'Hairspray' (Tony Award - Best Actor in a Musical), 'La Cage Aux Folles' (Tony Award - Best Book of a Musical). Wrote the musical 'Kinky Boots'. Inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2007.
