Description
Professor of ancient history at the University of Warwick. Specialises in the social history of ancient Greece and has made significant contributions to the study of ancient homosexuality. Author of the books 'The Greeks and Greek Love: a Radical Reappraisal of Homosexuality in Ancient Greece' (2008), 'Consuming Passions: Appetite, Addiction and Spending in Classical Athens' (1994), 'Courtesans [and] Fishcakes: The Consuming Passions of Classical Athens' (1997), and 'One Mykonos: Being Ancients, Being Islands, Being Giants, Being Gay' (2000). Contributor to The Guardian newspaper.
