AIDS and Latino community activist. Played a prominent role in ACT UP, the AIDS activist organization, during its inception. Former president of Frederick Ungar Publishing, managing the company until it was sold in 1985. Leader for the Gay Circles Consciousness Raising Group, which became ACT UP, and head of its Latino Caucus. Founding member of Queer Nation in New York City in 1990. Served as an administrator and bilingual educator for AIDSMEDS.com for more than a decade. Moderator for the POZ Forum in POZ magazine. Theatre reviewer for several LGBTQ magazines.
