Description
Stage and theatre playwright, notably for the drama plays 'Love! Valour! Compassion!' (1994, Tony Award) and 'Master Class' (1995, Tony Award), and the musicals 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' (1992, Tony Award) and 'Ragtime' (1996, Tony Award). Has also collaborated on Opera productions. Many of his works address the issues of AIDS and homophobia. Member, American Theatre Hall of Fame (1996).
