LGBTQ activist after being ousted from the Women's Army Corps for being gay (1963). First lesbian member of the Mattachine Society, a gay political activist group, and editor of its newsletter 'The Homosexual Citizen'. Co-founder of the newspaper The Gay Blade. Founder of The Gay Women's Alternative activist group. Documentary filmmaker, including productions of 'The Second Largest Minority' (1968) and 'Gay and Proud' (1970). Psychologist.
