Description
Labour Party Member of Parliament for Central Ayreshire since 2024. Former British Trade Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner for South Asia (2020-2024). Co-founder of FiveFilms4Freedom (online LGBTQ film festival) and a former Director of the British Council in India (2012-2016). Gemmel was appointed as Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council in December 2018. Responsible for the 2017 UK-India Year of Culture. Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a founding Leadership Fellow of St George's House, Windsor Castle. Appointed an Officer of the British Empire (2016).
