Musical - theatre composer, changed the face of modern musical theatre, has written music/lyrics for over 21 works, won Pulitzer Prize for Drama (1985), 6 Tony Awards. Notable works include 'Sweeney Todd' (1984), 'Sunday in the Park With George' (1984), and 'Gypsy' (1959). Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2015).
