Description
Transgender composer and electronic musician, was born as Walter Carlos but transitioned to female in 1972. Scored music for film, including the horror music for 'The Shining' and the 1982 Disney film 'Tron'. Noted for her album 'Switched-on Bach' (1968) which won 3 Grammy Awards. Recipient of the SEAMUS 2005 Life Achievement Award, in recognition of her groundbreaking work in the electro-acoustic world since the '60s.
