Sculptor, realist painter. Notable paintings include 'Ploughing in the Nivernais' and 'The Horse Fair'. Known for her liberal sexual ideas, and considered one of the greatest women artists of her generation. Identified by her male dress and behaviour. Lived with Anna Elizabeth Klumpke.
