Description
Professor of Sociology, University of Bremen (1971-2001) with an expertise in LGBTQ studies, the study of gender and the sociology of human sexuality, and the reaction of German society to homosexuality in the twentieth-century. Noted for the publication in 1977 of a comprehensive socio-historical study on all known homosexuals who were incarcerated in Nazi concentration camps. Heads the Institut für Sicherheits- und Präventionsforschung since 2005. Author of numerous books and studies on the LGBTQ community.
