First openly gay elected member of Provincial Parliament and first openly gay cabinet minister (Minister of Health, 2003-2008). Deputy Premier of Ontario (2006-2009), and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure (2008-2009). Ran unsuccessfully for the mayor of Toronto (2018).
