Description
Executive Director of the gay rights group Mattachine Society of New York, and an active participant in the Stonewall Riots of 1969. Considered the first gay reporter to publish an account of the Stonewall Riots. Notable for his coverage of a Sip-In, where he uncovered bars that refused to serve LGBTQ individuals and alleged that the licensing authority encouraged such discrimination. Wrote freelance for GAY, the new weekly newspaper for the LGBTQ community. Also known as Dick Leitsch. Died from AIDS.
