Description
Composer and lyricist for theatre shows, notably 'Hello Dolly' (Tony Award), 'Mame', and 'La Cage Aux Folles' (Tony Award). In 2009, Herman received the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. Recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors. Lost his first partner to AIDS, and was HIV positive himself.
