Description
Author of novels and travel books set in Italy, North Africa and Austria. Books include 'South Wind' (1917), 'Siren Land' (1911), 'Fountains in the Sand' (1912), 'Old Calabria' (1915), 'Together (Austria)' (1923), and 'Alone (Italy)' (1921). Began his life in the diplomatic corp in Russia, where he was placed on leave due to a sexual scandal. Fled to the island of Capri after being charged with sodomy with a sixteen year old boy, and later the south of France. Friend of D.H. Lawrence. Full name is George Norman Douglas.
