Director of Professional Umpire Development with American Umpires. Major League Baseball Umpire until 2017, having officiated in both leagues of American baseball. Has worked three World Series (1998, 2001, 2004) and three All-Star games (1993, 2001, 2011). Member, National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame (2015). Author of his autobiography 'The Umpire is Out' (2022).
