Internationally renowned photographer, notably of portraits. Chief Photographer, Vanity Fair magazine. Author of several books, including 'Women' (1999) and 'A Photographer's Life 1990:2006' (2006). Had a relationship with Susan Sontag, and was forced to raise substantial funds when Sontag passed away due to financial mismanagement and the suggestion that inheritance taxes were exorbitant, which would not have applied had the federal government recognized their personal relationship.
