Description

College football player, playing offensive tackle for the University of Pittsburgh, 1977-1979. Attempted suicide by jumping off a dam, due to his inability to reconcile being gay and an athlete. Though he survived, he became a paraplegic. Went on to author three books about the experience and reconciling being gay: 'Will I Live Another Day Before I Die?', 'Thoughts on Suicide and Life', and 'Johnny In the Spot' (a novel about a gay teenager), and become a public speaker on his experience. Died from complications.
