Description
Contemporary painter noted for his colourful watercolours and oil paintings depicting India's people. Work often contains homosexual themes. Recipient of the Prince Claus Award from Amsterdam, the Asian Council's Starr Foundation Fellowship (1986,) and the Padma Shri (Indian Government's award for excellence, 1984). Also known as Bhupen Khakkar.
