Description
Experimental poet who incorporates the history of gay culture into his work, particularly the AIDS epidemic. Notable for his three books of poetry: 'Tea' (1998), 'Lunch' (2000), and 'Cocktails' (2004). Other works include 'Chronic' (2009). Taught at Harvard University, Columbia University, and the University of San Francisco. Awarded the Lyric Poetry Award from the Poetry Society of America. HIV positive. Also known as Douglas A. Powell.
