Description

Poet, journalist, and literary critic. Notable collections include 'Terminal Moraine' (1972), 'Children in Exile: Poems 1968-1984' (1984), 'The Memory of War' (1982), and 'Yellow Tulips - Poems 1968-2011 (2012). Former correspondent and Editorial Assistant of 'New Statesman' magazine. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (1983) and The Royal Society of Arts (2003). Recipient of the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry (2007). Contributor and journalist to numerous magazines and newspapers, including The Guardian, The Independent, and The Sunday Times. Partner is author Darryl Pinckney.
