Description
First openly-gay armed services member to be reinstated (1987) after fighting her discharge on charges of homosexuality (1976), continuing to serve until 1990 when she was again discharged. Co-founded the Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Veterans of America (GLBVA), today known as the American Veterans for Equal Rights. Instructor of English with the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Caused controversy in 2016 over her comments on transgender individuals.
