Chronicler of LGBTQ history and culture, including the history of The Advocate magazine in the book 'Long Road to Freedom: The Advocate History of the Gay and Lesbian Movement'. Other books include 'Gay Spirit: Myth & Meaning' (1987), 'Gay Soul: Finding the Heart of Gay Spirit and Nature' (1994) and 'Gay Body: A Journey Through Shadow to Self' (1997).
