Description
India's first transgender news anchor, working at Lotus News in the southern state of Tamil Nadu since 2014 and presenting the news each evening at 19:00. Former tradition dancer of Bharatnatyam (a classical Indian dance form) and acted in Tamil soap operas. Competed in beauty contests. Appointment came just after India's Supreme Court recognized transgenders as a legal third gender, being the first country in the world to do so. Married with a foster son.
