Description

Singer, songwriter of contemporary folk music. Has also composed two operas: his first, 'Prima Donna' (2007); and his second opera, 'Hadrian' (2018) for the Canadian Opera Company. Notable albums include 'Rufus Wainwright' (1988), 'Poses' (2001), 'Want One' (2003), 'Want Two' (2004), 'Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall' (2007), 'Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets' (2016), and 'Unfollow the Rules' (2020). Recipient of two Juno Awards for Best Alternative Album (1999, 2002). Partner is Jorn Weisbrodt.
