Description
Abstract expressionist artist. Much of her later work, after leaving New York City in 1967, was inspired by her surroundings in Taos, New Mexico and her rural upbringing in Saskatchewan, Canada. Her signature style was defined by an emphasis upon line, grids, and fields of extremely subtle color. Made her directorial debut in the contemplative film 'Gabriel' (1976). Awarded a National Medal of Arts from the National Endowment for the Arts (1998).
