Description

Cabaret-style singer and guitarist, whose public behavior, strong lyrics, and stormy relationships with women led to her eventual rejection by her contemporaries in Mexico, but stardom in Spain led to her eventual acceptance in her home country. Produced 80 albums in her lifetime. 2002 autobiography 'Y Si Quieres Saber de Mi Pasado' (And If You Want to Know About My Past). Received a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Latin Grammy organization in 2007. Publicly acknowledged her lesbian sexuality in a television interview in 2000.
