Description
Notable poet and writer. Particularly noted for his war poems, such as 'Over the Brazier', and is among sixteen Great War poets commemorated on a slate stone unveiled in Westminster Abbey's Poets' Corner. Though married, his early homosexual relationship are related in his collection 'Fairies and Fussiliers' (1917). Friend of fellow poet Siegfried Sassoon. Author of his autobiography 'Good-bye to All That' (1929), and the book 'The White Goddess'. Author of the novels 'I, Claudius' (James Tait Black Memorial Prize, 1934), 'King Jesus', 'The Golden Fleece', and 'Count Belisarius'. Professor of English Literature at Cairo University. Bisexual.
