Description

Physician, Methodist Minister, and suffragette activist. Chair of the Franchise Department of Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). President of the National Women's Suffrage Association (NAWSA, 1904-1915) to push for a woman's right to vote. Head of the Women's Committee of the United States Council of National Defense during the First World War, for which she became the first woman to earn the Distinguished Service Medal.
