Writer, freelance journalist, and broadcaster. Author of the novels 'Shot Through the Heart' (2014), 'Nothing But Trouble' (2015), 'The Madonna of Bolton' (2017), 'The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle' (2021), 'Becoming Ted' (2023) and 'One Love' (2024). Inducted as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2024. Producer and director of numerous documentaries for ITV and Channel 4. Former Editor in Chief of Attitude magazine (2016-2018). Ambassador for Manchester Pride and the Albert Kennedy Trust, a national youth LGBT+ homelessness charity, and a patron of LGBT History Month. Awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bolton (2021).
