Description
Former Premier of the province of New Brunswick ((1970-1987) as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Part of the group of politicians which patriated the Canadian Constitution from Great Britain in 1982 and the creation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Appointed to the Senate in 1990. Though gay, never officially came out publicly.
