Classical ballet dancer and choreographer. Known for his virtuosity and strength in dance. The stress of his dancing led to mental illness late in life. Compatriot of the great Russian promoter Sergey Diaghilev who introduced Nijinsky to western audiences as Principal Dancer of the Bolshoi when it toured to Paris in 1909.
