Description
Noted author of 'Hunger of Memory: The Education of Richard Rodriguez' (1982), a narrative about his intellectual development. Came out as gay in his book of essays 'Days of Obligation', which shocked the latino community. Received an Emmy Award for his journalism work (1992). Received numerous other awards for his journalism, including for the television show 'McNeil-Lehrer Newshour' on the PBS television station. Most recent book is 'Darling: A Spiritual Autobiography' (2013).
