Description
Murdered LGBT rights activist when he was assaulted on 26 January 2011 by a man who hit him twice in the head with a hammer; Kato later died en route to Kawolo General Hospital. Considered the father of Uganda's gay rights activism. His murder led to international awareness and condemnation of homophobia and violence toward the LGBTQ community in Uganda.
