Description
Governor of the state of Carinthia on two occasions (1999-2008, 1989-1991), the long-time leader of the Austrian Freedom Party (1986-2000), and later Chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Austria (2008). Controversial politician due to his anti-semetic positions. Though married for a long time, after his death it was revealed that he had a long-term male lover. Died in a car accident, which many consider an assassination. Partner was politician Stefan Petzner.
