Novelist and member of the LGBTQ author's group 'Violet Quill'. Wrote a regularly appearing column Uptown for the New York Native. Books include 'There Are Giants In the Earth' (1974) and 'Life Drawing: A Novel' (1991). In 1988, the Ferro-Grumley Awards for LGBT fiction were created in his and his partner Robert Ferro's honor.
