Description

Principal of University of Toronto Scarborough College since 2014. Formerly Director of the School of Physical and Health Education and Acting Director of the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, and formerly the Warden of Hart House at the University of Toronto. Noted track & field athlete at the University of Toronto, having won gold and bronze at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in the 6 mile and 3 mile events, respectively. Competed in the 1964 Olympic Games. Honourary member, Canadian Olympic Committee. Member, Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame (1966) and Canadian Sports Hall of Fame (1968). Author of numerous books on the sports and politics, including 'The Political Economy of Sport' (1979) and 'The Struggle for Canadian Sport' (1996). Appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada (2004).
