Transgender Filmmakers

Transgender filmmakers bring their unique experiences and outlook to their profession. They are important players in presenting and educating the viewing public on their community, its history, and the challenges faced by transgender individuals.

Kimberly Reed of the United States was the first transgender filmmaker to have a documentary film, 'Prodigal Sons', theatrically released in the country, while sisters Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski are famed for their films including 'The Matrix'.
