Description
Short story writer and poet whose many works contain homosexual themes. Considered to belong to the Amsterdam School, a group of three poets which was a reaction to the magazine Forum and also allowed the anecdotal in poetry. Notable for his several collections of poetry, incuding Gedichten (1936), De pothoofdplant (1936) and Frisia non cantat (1938). Short stories include Een Summer (1946), Men and Cats (1947), Het hart aan denagel and Eule beule bolletje (both 1954). Other works include Fairytales and stories (1955), Don't reproduce , an adaptation of Shakespeare 's sonnets (1959), The .eetest guest with a pronounced homosexual slant ( 1961), The Bubble Gum Child (1965), Loze Aren (1970). Also known as Jaap van Hattum.
