Description

Chemist. Awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry. Professor at Stanford University, and former Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley; Professor of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of California, San Francisco; is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute; and is the former Director of the Molecular Foundry, a nanoscience research center. Studies the glycobiology underlying diseases such as cancer. Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (2013). Elected member of the Institute of Medicine (2011). Recipient of numerous awards for her work. GLBT Scientist of the Year Award (2007) from the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals. Board Member, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Recipient of the MacArthur Genius Award. Member of the Board of Orna Therapeutics since 2024.
