Former Member of European Parliament as Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, 1999-2014. Voted MEP of the year for justice and fundamental rights by his peers. Co-founder of Stonewall; formerly actor in tv series 'East Enders'. Awarded Commander of the British Empire (2012).
